Marketing concept: Visual indentity and Social Media

Both the client and our team have identified that packaging and also advertising/social media is needed/lacking in the brand. Through meetings with other groups, we have noticed that most do not want to target social media. We however that it is an important aspect and it is what the client needs to strengthen their brand identity.

Already we have many ideas on directions we could go in with packaging. With the whole marketing and advertising aspect, we did not have a clear or solid idea or plan of what we were going to deliver.

At the meeting with the client we had a discussion around this aspect and what they want.

- we picked up that they were interested in making more effort and be more consistent with posting on their facebook page.
- they mentioned twitter- we think that twitter is good for questions. However, it is not as popular within NZ and not a good platform for selling a product.
- marketing around reglazing service ( reminding people to update their prescription)
- advertising at stores (local)
- old methods of advertising (word of mouth)

From this, we have done more market research to get a direction in this concept.

We started thinking about visuals (photographs) that can tie/relate to the brand. We agree that Mr foureyes have a quirkiness about them however not evidently shown on their website. Jack mentioned their glasses on people in a natural environment (they only have studio photos on their website) which led us to Humans of New York. I then found Gordon Graham (eyewear brand) that shoot  each collection in a different location (cafe, pizza parlour, park, etc.)

These images focus on the glasses yet are also selling a lifestyle. Often brands on instagram subtly sell the item to the audience by using images that show a lifestyle, the essence and value of the brand.

we looked into brands that do this on instagram:

(eyewear, usa)

(street clothing, wellington NZ)

(eyewear, NZ)

(eyewear, uk)

(performance clothing, usa)

(performance clothing, NZ)
